Plan now to help your organisation later

The most important action that your organisation can take is to plan now. There are a number of ways to prepare for an influenza pandemic:

  1. Develop an internal pandemic planning taskforce and review the steps your organisation can take to include as part of your organisations' pandemic plan
  2. Engage your business continuity/preparedness department to expand their mission to
    include pandemic planning
  3. Work with a business preparedness advisory organisation to assist you in preparing
    your organisation for an influenza pandemic, e.g. Marsh Business Continuity (see External Links page for website details)

Steps your organisation can take now 3

The Australian government recommends seven core tasks that can be done now to minimise the impact of an influenza pandemic on your business:

  1. Identify your businesses core people and skills
  2. Establish a pandemic planning team
  3. Plan for staff absences
  4. Consider the effects of supply shortages on operations
  5. Establish and maintain 2 way communication
  6. Consider human resources issues
  7. Test you plan and know when to activate it
